Position Title
Head Coach, Men's and Women's Tennis
Position Description
- Develop and implement effective practice plans and training programs that enhance the skills, strategy, and overall performance of the men’s and women’s tennis team.
- Provide individual and group instruction to student-athletes, focusing on skill development, techniques, and strategies for competitive play.
- Analyze player performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate improvement.
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who can contribute to the team’s success and meet the academic standards of the university.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective student-athletes.
- Host and coordinate campus visits for recruits and their families.
- Manage the tennis program’s budget, including equipment purchases, travel expenses, and other operational costs.
- Schedule and coordinate team travel arrangements for competitions, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Ensure the program complies with all NCAA, conference, and university regulations and policies.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, providing support and resources to help them succeed academically.
- Foster an environment that emphasizes the importance of academic achievement alongside athletic success.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the tennis program, including social media outreach and community engagement.
- Participate in fundraising activities to support the tennis program’s financial needs.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching/teaching tennis.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting academic and athletic excellence.
- Ability to work long hours. Including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel frequently for recruitment and competition.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Demonstrated experience as a collegiate tennis coach, preferably at the Division 1 level.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting collegiate tennis players, both in the northeast region and beyond.
