Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
We are seeking a scholar who works at the intersection of media, democracy and technology. While we are open to a range of disciplines and approaches, the successful candidate should demonstrate a research and teaching interest in journalism.
Elements of a research agenda that connect media, democracy and technology in important, innovative ways could include, but are not limited to, some of the following:
- The future of local journalism
- Solutions journalism
- The rule of law and threats to democracy
- Misinformation, disinformation and propaganda
- Business models/ethics for the future of journalism
- Comparative or international media studies
- Migration
- Climate change
- Social media, audience engagement, and participation
- Privacy, technology, and information policy
- Algorithmic bias and journalism
- Computational automation and journalism
- Artificial intelligence and journalism

Education:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in journalism, information science, communication, media studies, political science, sociology, geography or another relevant field by August 2024, but ABD candidates will be considered.
