Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position involves assisting in the implementation and configuration of the department’s data visualization on the PowerBI platform, ensuring seamless data integration and optimization. Key responsibilities include visualizing data through graphical representations, developing queries, generating comprehensive reports, and summarizing project data trends and insights through dashboards, charts, and tables. The role also entails analyzing and validating new reports, dashboards, and features within various digital platforms (e-Builder, KFS, FMS, Workday, and PowerBI) using Python and SQL, ensuring the accuracy and functionality of data-driven tools. Additionally, the incumbent will provide administrative support to the Project Controls team and e-Builder users, perform basic mathematical computations for summarizing project data, prepare ad-hoc reports including, but not limited to, monthly program briefing, Time Tracking Module (TTM) adjustments, Project Management Expense Recovery (PMER), and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and instructional manuals to support the department’s continuous learning center mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience:
Four years experience in administrative staff work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information, working knowledge of analytical and statistical principles and techniques.
  • Skill in the use of office automation software and its applications, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form. 
  • Ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities.

Other:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Proficient in programming languages, i.e. Python, SQL, etc.
  • Familiarity with project management information systems, i.e. e-Builder, etc.
  • Familiarity with data visualizations platforms, i.e. Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, and to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented environment, taking on new tasks with enthusiasm and energy.

Additional Certifications:

Although driving a State Vehicle is not a requirement for this position, travel by foot or vehicle may be required from time to time for meetings, deliveries, etc. across campus. If driving a State vehicle, incumbent must possess a valid class C Driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than six points.

Additional Information:

This is a Contingent II (contractual) full-time position where the contract is for one year.

Physical Demands

  • While position is not physically demanding, the incumbent must be able to perform well under strict deadlines. 
  • Position requires limited lifting of project drawings sets and boxes of project files. Incumbent should be able to lift up to 40 pounds. 
  • Position may be mentally taxing, requiring incumbent to move rapidly and easily from one assignment to another. 
  • Travel to construction sites may be needed which requires ability to navigate uneven surfaces.
  • This position is in a non-essential category and is telework eligible up to 2 days per week based on the needs of the department.
