Essential Job Duties
This individual answers the telephone and takes action according to the request. Schedules appointments according to unit guidelines and provider’s directives.
The CMA/RMA is responsible for maintaining needed supplies in assigned exam rooms, assisting patients with check in at the kiosk, referrals, follow-up appointments, and specific instructions as indicated by the provider. The CMA/RMA assists the RN and prepares patients for examination, chaperones and assists the provider, as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Must report to work during Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.
Minimum Experience/Education
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Necessary Special Qualification Requirements – Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
Other Required Qualifications
- Completed Medical Assistant training program that is accredited by the accrediting bureau of Health Education School (ABEHES) or the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) and must have certification by the American Association of Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of Electronic Records.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills.
- Appreciation of needs of college age population (patient expectations are very high).
- BLS CPR Certificate
- Clinical competencies under scope of practice including venipuncture, EKG, Nebulizer, ear irrigation, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Required License or Certification
CPR Certification within 30 days of employment.
Valid NC Driver's License required
