Position Summary

NOTE:  CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME. 

Under the direction of the Director of Adult Education, the employee is responsible for assisting the director in managing multiple adult education sites with particular emphasis on curriculum development, data analysis and program management. In addition, the employee will assist with developing and implementing programs to enhance student retention and success.

Salary:  Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E3 04:  $41,944-$57,251, which is based on years of directly related full-time experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Ensure the instructional program is delivered in a manner that serves the students best and reflects well on the institution, with the goal of moving more students toward the GED credential and higher education or employment. 
    2.  Conduct constant review of Adult Education program data as collected by the AAESAP system. Meet regularly with data entry staff to ensure instructor compliance with reporting requirements.
    3.  Ensure the instructional program is based on sound assessment, teaching, learning, support services, and continual program improvement.  Identify and implement instructional programs that will increase GED/HSDO completions and increased Measurable Skills Gains (MSG). 
    4.  Develop and conduct professional development activities under the supervision of the Director and ensure that each instructor achieves the required amount of professional development. 
    5.  Remain current with curriculum changes, technological changes, and Adult Education software applications, and makes recommendations to the Director. 
    6.  Instruct classes as needed.
    7.  Assist the Director in conducting quarterly class site visits to monitor instructional program.
    8.  Assist the Director with marketing the adult Education program in the College's service area.
    9.  Assume other professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by appropriate personnel. 
    10.  Regularly engage in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas. 
    11.  Comply with policies of the State Board of Education, the Department of Postsecondary Education, FERPA, the College and each assigned school.
    12.  Coordinate activities with other College departments and external partners. 
    13.  Represent and promote the career pathway programs.
    14.  Assist students with career assessment and career exploration activities. 
    15.  Conduct follow-up with program participants and offer advisement as needed.
    16.  Collect data to support retention, promote student success, and increase completion rates. 
    17.  Work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations. 

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1.  Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College. 
    2.  Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and of departmental information. 
    3.  Remain current in and enhance professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education. 
    4.  Interact with and serve diverse student and employee populations in a courteous and friendly manner.
    5.  Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees. 
    6.  Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies and assigned by supervisor or dean. 
    7.  Recruit potential students, both traditional and nontraditional, to the College. 
    8.  Represent the institution in a positive manner.
    9.  Participate in advance registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment as assigned.
    10.  Serve on committees as assigned.
    11.  Participate in graduation. 
    12.  Participate in the College's planning process.
    13.  Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business, marketing, communication, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related full-time work experience
  • Two (2) years of experience teaching in a K-12 or higher education environment
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to career exploration
  • High degree of workplace professionalism
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible, non-standard work week
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Adult Education
  • Supervisory experience
